8 Easy Ways for Men to Look Younger
Old age is coming. You can’t escape. You can’t run. And the more preoccupied you are with getting older, the worse it seems to show.
Want to age gracefully? That requires long-term effort. You can’t wait until you’ve got deep wrinkles, severe back pain, no strength, and thinning hair out to do something about it. The earlier you start fighting the aging process, the better.
There’s no time like the present. Start applying these 8 ways to look younger and you’ll soon notice the pleasant results.
1 - Stick to a Skincare Routine
No surprises here, of course the first tip is all about skincare. The whole reason Brickell Men’s Products was started is because one of the co-founders suddenly discovered he was aging. If you’re in the same position, you understand.
A daily skincare routine for men does not have to be complicated, time consuming, or even expensive. No, it won’t be free. Yes, you have to spend 5 minutes each morning and evening using the right products. But isn’t your appearance worth that?
If you’re brand new to the idea of skincare, go with our Daily Essential Face Care Routine. It comes with face wash for men and face moisturizer for men. Simple. Effective. Can’t go wrong.
Ready to step things up and get even better results? Go for the best anti-aging routine for men. Our Advanced Anti-Aging Routine is designed for guys of all ages - whoever wants to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. It comes with anti-aging cream for men, our nighttime face serum for men, and a customer-favorite, eye cream for men.
2 - Use Sunscreen
Keeping your skin clean, hydrated, and healthy is one thing. Protecting it from the sun is also critical. Sun exposure is the #1 accelerator of the aging process. If you work outdoors or otherwise spend lots of time outside, you are going to age faster than most guys. That includes age spots, pigmentation issues, wrinkles, and leathery skin.
The answer is simple - use sunscreen. Everyday. Always. No excuses.
We’ve made it easy with our Daily Defense Face Moisturizer. It’s a face moisturizer for men with SPF 15 that both keeps your skin hydrated and prevents the aging effects of sun exposure.
Concerned about the chemicals in most SPF products? Ours is zinc-based to alleviate those worries. If you’re going to the beach or doing something else that requires prolonged, intense sun exposure, be sure to use sunscreen everywhere the sun reaches - and reapply every 2-3 hours.
3 - Keep Your Hair Short
Think of a old, wizened wizard in any movie you’ve ever seen. How crazy was their hair? Long and wiry, unkempt and out of control. That’s because long, untrimmed hair is the look of the old - not the young.
If you want to look younger, you’ve got to keep your hair short and trim it often. That means regular trips to the barbershop - not just running in for a quick cut because your wife/GF/SO gave you an ultimatum.
Ask your barber to keep it short with modern lines. Worried that cutting your hair short will reveal your bald spot or receding hair line? In reality, shorter hair will make you look better. Trying to cover up hair loss with long hair and visual tricks is another sure sign of age.
To keep your hair style in place, use a natural wax pomade for men. It won’t dry out your scalp or turn your hair rock hard. It just holds your look so you never have that windswept, out of control style.
4 - Ditch Your Beard
Much like long, unkempt hair ages you, so does your facial hair. Any facial hair. If you’re serious about turning back the clock - visually, at least - you’ve got to ditch the beard, mustache, and goatee.
Clean shaven guys look younger. Yes, it requires more upkeep. Yes, you have to be smart about avoiding razor burn and ingrown hairs. And yes - it’s worth it.
Had facial hair for a while now? Worried about developing shave irritation? Use the best shave products for men - including shave cream for men, shave oil for men, and alcohol-free aftershave. For an even smoother experience, use face scrub for men before you shave.
5 - Stay Flexible
If you have bad posture, struggle to stand up out of a chair, and walk all bent over, guess how you look? Old.
Flexibility, good posture, and freedom of movement are signs of youth. But once you hit your 30’s, you start to lose all those things. Stay flexible by avoiding a sedentary lifestyle, doing regular stretches, and doing yoga or similar exercises that build flexibility.
Keep in mind, your goal is functional flexibility. Not Cirque de Soleil level contortions. A healthy habit of movement and stretching is more than enough.
6 - Focus on Fitness
No surprise here. Staying fit fights the aging process. Hard.
The good news: fitness isn’t the same for everyone. Some guys love to lift weights at the gym. Others are into cycling or running. Other guys prefer playing team sports. And there are arguments for or against just about any method of staying fit.
But you’re not trying to build the perfect athletic body. You’re just trying to look and feel as young as possible for as long as possible. So focus on fitness - however you prefer to do it. A balanced routine that includes cardio and strength training is smart.
Make movement part of your daily routine. And always push back against a sedentary lifestyle.
7 - Prevent Weight Gain
Extra weight ages you. Whether it’s a second chin, a spare tire, or just general flab, excess fat makes you look several years older than you actually are - not to mention the health concerns of obesity.
Just like with skincare, start with something simple and effective. Eat fewer processed foods in favor of fresh vegetables and healthy proteins. Switch out sugary, carb-loaded snacks for natural options. You can slowly work towards eating better. That’s far better than trying to dump a lot of weight on a fad diet, only to yo-yo back afterwards.
If you make healthy eating a lifestyle and not a temporary change, you won’t have to worry about gaining excess weight as you age. You’ll look - and feel - better than most guys.
8 - Dress Better Than You Have To
The way you look is dominated by the clothes you choose to wear. What do your outfits say about you? That you’re old and out of touch? If so, it’s time for a change.
You don’t have to toss out your whole wardrobe. Just pay more attention to the way your clothing fits. Keep it trim and fitted - not too tight or too loose. Use classic attire that never goes completely out of style. That prevents you from looking a certain age just based on what you’re wearing - and saves you from trend chasing.
Many guys give up on themselves style-wise as they age. Their clothes get messier, looser, and sloppier. Fight that tendency and you’ll shave years off the age others perceive you as.
No matter what age you are now, you can take steps to slow the aging process and look your best. Don’t worry about looking as young as when you were x or y age. Instead, embrace who you are now and do what you can to look your best.
